Early morning fire breaks out in Beverly

An early morning fire did heavy damage to a machine shop in downtown Beverly today.

Firefighters from Beverly and neighboring communities responded to a 3:12 a.m. fire at Standley Brothers Machine Co., 93 Park St.

When firefighters arrived, they could see flames coming from the roof and second floor of the building, which is located near the Italian Community Center.

It took firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control.
