Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary will kick off the sugaring season with a February Flapjack Fling on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield. The event features a special pancake breakfast with syrup from the sanctuary’s maple trees and offers sugaring tours to learn about the sanctuary’s maple sugaring operation and the transformation of sap to syrup. Breakfast, which includes fruit, juice and milk, will be served at 8:15, 9, 10:15 and 11:15 a.m., and sugaring tours will depart at 9, 10, 11 a.m. and noon. Admission to the breakfast is $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 3 to 8. The tour is $9 for adults and $8 for children (Mass Audubon members: $8 adult, $7 child). Children under 3 are free and should be in a baby carrier. Receive a $1 discount when registering for both breakfast and a tour on the same day.
