Police: Man held after choking woman

DANVERS — A Lynn man is set to be arraigned this morning for allegedly choking a woman at a Motel 6 on Newbury Street in Danvers late yesterday afternoon.

David Daigle, 37, of 100 Willow St., was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and battery and violating an abuse prevention order yesterday around 5 p.m.

According to police, the victim alleged Daigle “put his hands around her neck and began to squeeze.”

The victim was able to kick free and went down to the motel office to call for help, police said.

Daigle is being held without bail. He will be arraigned in Salem District Court.
