Merchandise stolen from Victoria's Secret

PEABODY — Police say the Victoria’s Secret at the Northshore Mall sustained another major merchandise theft Sunday — the store’s fourth such incident since this time last month.

The department received a report of “another high-volume panty larceny” at 3:47 p.m. Sunday, according to the incident log. Police couldn’t offer any more details, but previous logs indicate that the store had been struck by shoplifters the previous two Sundays — and also on Friday, May 17.

On Sunday, June 2, police received a 6:02 p.m. report that mall security was following a shoplifter who had made off with $3,000 worth of merchandise from the store. The suspect was described as being a white 5-foot-5 female in a red shirt. Police were unable to locate her.

A week earlier, on May 26, staff reported at 6:41 p.m. that an unknown person had made off with $1,400 in panties as the store was closing its doors for the evening.

On May 17, police received an 8:36 p.m. report that somebody had made off with 165 pairs of panties — valued at an average price of $14.50 each, for a total of $2,392.50.

Curiously, the description of the suspect from the June 2 incident bears similarities to one provided after yet another theft earlier this year, on Sunday, April 7. In that incident, a white 5-foot-5 female with orange or red hair stole about $1,000 in merchandise from the store, according to the log.
