Destination Ipswich Events Calendar


Ipswich Museum is open for seasonal historic house tours. Tours last 30 minutes in each house, which includes the 1677 Whipple House and the 1800 Heard House, where a collection of paintings by Arthur Wesley Dow is displayed. Tours will continue until Oct. 30. Museum hours are Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday, noon to 3 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. Admission for both houses is $10, or $7 for one house for adults, $3 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children under 6. Castle Hill Tours: “The Great House: Revealed” tours are offered through Oct. 12 at the Crane Estate, 290 Argilla Road, on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last tour at 3 p.m.), and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (last tour at 1 p.m.). Adults, $12; children 12 and under, free. Discounts for Trustees of Reservations members. Castle Hill Estate Tour: The Designed Landscape offered Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through Oct. 26. $10 adults, children free; discounts for members. Combined Great House and Estate Tour admission, $18/nonmembers. $9 members.

Children’s Treasure Hunt at The Great House on Castle Hill, 11 to 11:45 a.m., for families with children ages 4 to 8. Family Farm Dinners: Earth Oven Pizza Nights, 5:30 p.m., Appleton Farms, 219 County Road. Join the farm staff and a volunteer guest chef for a Friday night pizza party on the farm. Children can visit the chickens, pick herbs for their pizzas, and play some old-fashioned games while homemade pizzas are baked in the new earth oven in the outdoor kitchen.
