Neighbors to host meeting on special election

BEVERLY — Neighborhood groups are inviting residents to a presentation and discussion about the upcoming Brimbal Avenue special election.

The “Meet, Greet and Educate” event will be held Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Vittori-Rocci Post, 143 Brimbal Ave.

The discussion will be hosted by the North Beverly Neighborhood Association, Montserrat Neighborhood Group and Norwood Pond Coalition. Residents involved in the effort to have the rezoning placed on the ballot will discuss the project and answer questions.

The special election is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Beverly High School. A “yes” vote will uphold a vote by the Beverly City Council to rezone a parcel of land on Brimbal Avenue to allow for the development of a shopping plaza. A “no” vote will defeat the rezoning.

Light refreshments will be provided at Thursday’s meeting by Henry’s Market. People who plan to attend are encouraged, but not required, to RSVP by calling 978-922-2927.
