Men flash gun in failed robbery try

PEABODY — Two men attempted an armed robbery on Berry Street Wednesday night, flashing a black semiautomatic pistol during the incident, police said.

The attempt occurred at 11:43 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Police said the victim was walking in the area when two men demanded the victim’s cellphone, but they were not successful in obtaining it. A brief struggle occurred, and the suspects fled the area.

The suspects were described as dark-skinned Hispanic men, who fled the scene in a dark minivan with a license plate with a bright yellow backdrop and the first three letters GHU, police said.

The unknown suspects were last seen driving down Warren Street toward the Central Street area.
