DANVERS — “American Idol” finalist and Beverly High graduate Angie Miller was a big hit with students at Danvers High yesterday during a day at the school with one of her friends, according to Assistant Principal Mark Strout.
“The kids got a big kick out of her,” Strout said.
Miller shadowed classes with her friend, senior Karissa Zakas, Strout said. Miller did not perform any songs, but she met with students, faculty and staff.
Strout said Miller posed for a lot of pictures as she attended classes with Zakas at the newly renovated Danvers High.
“The kids said she was one of the most pleasant people they have ever met,” Strout said.
Zakas tweeted: “I brought @angiemiller to my school today & she wore overalls idk.” A picture of both young women posted on Instagram shows Miller and Zakas holding brown-bag lunches.
“She’s one of my best friends,” Zakas responded via Twitter about how she got Miller to her high school. “We thought it would be fun.”
By all appearances on social media, it was.
“Lunch time with @karissazakas!! Had so much fun visiting Danvers High! Thanks for having me!” Miller wrote along with a photo posted to Instagram.
It looks like it was a full day of classes for the 19-year-old, 2012 Beverly High graduate. She tweeted out to her fans that she was up early to get ready for school, and that her friend’s mom made them breakfast in bed. She also sent out a selfie photo of her and Zakas in “AP Calc.”
Danvers High student Julia McNulty posted a photo of her and Angie in ceramics class.
Miller was a top-three Season 12 finalist on “American Idol” and took part in the “American Idol” tour after the show this past summer. She performed at the Topsfield Fair and came out with an original Christmas song over the holidays.
She plans to move to Los Angeles this month to pursue a recording career.
