Beverly begins weekly recycling Monday

Weekly recycling pickup begins in Beverly July 1.

With the change, each residence or apartment unit will be allowed five bags or barrels (35 gallon) of trash per week. Previously, the limit was 10 bags or barrels. The maximum weight allowed for a trash bag or barrel is 40 pounds.

“In order to pay for the increased recycling pick-ups, we’ve had to drop the limit of refuse collected,” Beverly Mayor Bill Scanlon said in a press release. “I think people will find that the more paper, glass, plastic and tin they put in their recycling bin, the fewer trash bags and barrels they’ll need. In the end it’s all good for the community and the environment.”
