BEVERLY — Beverly police are asking the public for assistance in their investigation of a home invasion on Thorndike Street on Monday night.
A resident and a friend told police that two men wearing ski masks forced their way through a back door into a third-floor apartment at 17 Thorndike St. at approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday.
During a struggle, one of the suspects said to the resident, "I know there's something in the house. Give me the (expletive), or I'll blast you!" police said.
The suspect had his hand hidden behind his back as he made the statement, but no weapon was actually seen by the victims, police said. The suspects fled toward Lovett Street before police arrived.
Police said the incident appears to be drug-related.
The suspects were described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, in his early 20s with a stocky build, and a black male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, also in his 20s with a stocky build. Both wore black clothing and ski masks.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the police station at 978-922-1212. Information can also be submitted anonymously through the Beverly police website (beverlypd.org), Facebook page, smartphone app or by calling the anonymous tip line at 978-921-6046, ext. 10.
