Get ready to sculpt if snow falls

IPSWICH — Although it certainly hasn't been the snowiest winter on record, a group of Ipswich citizens has organized a snow sculpture contest.

Once we get a coating of snow, residents are encouraged to create a snow sculpture of any type or design and send in a photo to Ipswichsnowfest@yahoo.com. The winter-long contest is being organized by a community group, spearheaded by Dave Wallace and KelleyJane Kloub.

Entries will be judged and prizes awarded in several categories: adult (over age 18), teen (age 13 to 18), child (age 12 and under), family, and neighbor collaboration.

Those who are unable to email a photo should contact the contest organizers via email, and they will stop by to take a photo for you. All entries should include a name, address and category.

The contest will run until "Mother Nature decides no more snow," organizers said. Direct questions and comments to Ipswichsnowfest@yahoo.com.
