Ash Wednesday observance in Danvers

DANVERS — An Ash Wednesday Mass was celebrated in American Sign Language interpretation yesterday afternoon for residents at New England Homes for the Deaf on Water Street. About 40 people attended the Mass on the first floor of the facility. The Rev. Shawn Carey, the director of the Office of the Deaf Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Boston, celebrated the Mass. New England Homes for the Deaf was founded in 1901 and provides independent living, rest home, skilled nursing and other care for deaf and deaf/blind seniors.
