The preschool program at Salem State University, located at 262 Loring Ave., is currently enrolling children ages 2.9 to 5 for its six-week summer nature program and for fall. The children of Salem State University students have first priority, followed by the children of faculty, staff, alumni and the community. Registration is by appointment only, and space is limited; therefore, early registration is advised. To schedule a tour and to register, contact the preschool office at 978-542-6408. Salem Chamber of Commerce’s eighth annual Salem Spring Restaurant Week, a 10-day event, takes place Sunday, March 16, through Thursday, March 20, and Sunday, March 23, through Thursday, March 27, at 20 restaurants in Salem. Participating restaurants will offer either a prix-fix, two-course dinner menu for $18 or a prix-fix, three-course dinner menu for $28. Hamilton Hall will host an appraisal day on Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with appraisals by Stephen Fletcher and his team from Skinner Auctioneers. Each person may bring up to three items to be evaluated. For items that are too large to move, bring a photograph of the item in its entirety, including measurements, and photos of any carvings, marks, stamps or special features. Appraisal slots must be reserved in advance as space is limited. The cost is $20 for one item or $50 for three items. All proceeds benefit Hamilton Hall, 9 Chestnut St., Salem. Young women who are residents of Salem, graduating from high school and continuing on to college, are welcome to apply for the Anonymous Scholarship, which is awarded based upon a combination of financial need and academic performance. The award can be renewed annually if the student maintains a primary residence in Salem during her four-year pursuit of an undergraduate degree. The application deadline is Thursday, May 1. To request an application form, send the name and mailing address of the interested applicant to beckford3@msn.com, with “Anonymous Scholarship Application Form” in the subject line of the email.
