Two little ponies go for a walk

SALEM — It’s not every day horses make news in a city without a racetrack, but two ponies got loose yesterday and made the police blotter.

The horses escaped from a salvage yard on Robinson Road and wandered out to busy Swampscott Road just before the start of the afternoon rush hour. Police got a call on the incident at 2:34 p.m. and sent a cruiser to the scene.

Fortunately, all ended well for the ponies.

“The horses were returned to their stable at A&H Auto on Robinson Road,” police reported.

The Salem News was unable to reach anyone at the salvage yard.
