Police: Needle shown during stickup

BEVERLY — Police say a man showed a hypodermic needle to a clerk during a robbery at Walgreens on Elliott Street shortly after midnight on Thursday.

Multiple officers responded to the area of 54 Elliott St. after a report of the armed robbery. The suspect was described as being about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 35 years old. He was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans, and surveillance footage suggested he is light-skinned.

The man fled the store with cash, but police aren’t saying how much.

Police ask anybody with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 978-921-6046 or the Crime Analysis Unit at 978-605-2522. Tips can also submitted online at or via the department’s MyPD smartphone application.
