BEVERLY — Two people were arrested last night after riding around the Manor Road area and firing a BB gun out of the car, injuring a young boy in the shoulder and hitting two others who were not injured, police Detective Lt. Timothy Hegarty said.
Dominic Lauranzano, 18, of 6 Goodyear St., the driver of the vehicle, and a 16-year-old passenger each were charged with three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Hegarty said.
Police received several calls around 7:35 p.m. that someone in a silver car was riding around the Manor and Apple roads neighborhood, shooting at residents from the car with a BB gun, Hegarty said.
Police responded and located the car with the suspects inside. Police recovered the BB gun in the vehicle, Hegarty said.
A young boy about 8 to 10 years old sustained an injury to his right shoulder when the BB pierced his clothes and broke the skin, Hegarty said. A couple of other residents reported getting hit, but they did not sustain any injuries.
Lauranzano is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Salem District Court, while the juvenile is scheduled to be arraigned in Juvenile Court in Salem.
Officers Antonio DiRuzza Jr. and officer Justin Shairs were the investigating officers, Hegarty said.
