Detectives arrested two men involved in an alleged drug transaction at 7:34 p.m. at the corner of Derby and Congress streets. Christian Castillo, 20, of 105 Rainbow Terrace, Salem, was charged with distribution of heroin. Nathan Verberkmoes, 40, of 10 Washington St., Ipswich, was charged with possession of heroin.
Derek Savage, 21, of 24 Pleasant St., Peabody, was arrested at 10:58 p.m. at his home after allegedly leading police on a car chase in Salem and Peabody following an incident at the Taco Bell on Highland Avenue. He was charged with malicious destruction of property valued at more than $250, speeding, a stop sign violation, drunken driving and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
A 19-year-old man was placed in protective custody for intoxication after he allegedly stole several submarine sandwiches from a 7-Eleven on Norman Street. The store manager declined to press criminal charges but did request a no-trespass order be issued against the man. Police were given a description of the man and found him a short distance from the store eating a sub.
A Leach Street resident told police at 1:28 a.m. that two women dumped bleach all over his bedroom. Police are investigating.
A Northey Street resident reported at 6:13 a.m. that someone poured brown paint on her boyfriend’s car. The woman said she is involved in a dispute with her ex-husband, whom she spotted the previous night outside a pub in Peabody.
The Fire Department put out a morning fire in the woods off Memorial Drive.
Following a traffic stop at 1:20 p.m. on Highland Avenue, Glacio Silva, 35, of 139 High St., Danvers, was arrested on charges of driving without a license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to stop at a red light or stop sign.
Yaqing Wang, 48, of 48 Glen Rock Ave., Malden, was arrested on a larceny charge following an investigation into a report made at 5:27 p.m. of a missing scratch ticket from the 7-Eleven on Norman Street.
