Police were called to The Clipper Ship on Bridge Street at 11:51 a.m. on a report of a man refusing to leave after checkout. Officers said the man was heavily intoxicated and placed in protective custody. Roy A. Muckle, 47, of 56 Margin St., Salem, was then subsequently arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Lynn District Court for defrauding an innkeeper.
Carla P. Alves, 39, of 61 Dunlap St., Salem, was arrested at 12:16 p.m. following a report of a shoplifter at The Family Dollar on Canal Street. She was charged with two counts of shoplifting by concealing merchandise (third offense) and on a default warrant from Peabody District Court.
Craig C. Piper, 47, of 5 Cleveland Road, Salem, was arrested at his home following a domestic incident reported at 1:19 p.m. He was charged with domestic assault and making threats to kill.
A man came to the station to report someone stole a spare tire out of the back of his truck the night before. He said the truck was parked in front of his home on Federal Street and the tire was actually old and useless, but he still wanted to report the theft anyway.
A female caller reported at 4:07 p.m. that an apartment on Proctor Street was vandalized sometime overnight.
Police arrested Rick C. Ferreira, 43, of 12 Northend St. #2, Peabody, after a motor vehicle stop on Washington Street at 2:38 p.m. Ferreira was charged on an outstanding warrant from Lawrence District Court for failure to attend jury duty.
A 53-year-old Nahant woman was transported to Salem Hospital after a two-vehicle accident at the corner of Sparrow Lane and Central Street at 3:22 p.m. Both vehicles were towed.
A resident at a Shamrock Street apartment reported at 4:26 p.m. that someone broke into his home sometime after 6:30 a.m. Police said pry marks were visible on the front door.
