An anonymous caller reported at 5:52 p.m. that there was a vehicle wrapped in Saran wrap outside Hannaford Supermarket on Lowell Street with “inappropriate language” written on the plastic. Police said it was a birthday prank and advised the owner of the vehicle.
A male at a Norris Brook Lane home was transported to Mass. General Hospital at 6:38 p.m. with an abdominal puncture wound.
Police assisted state troopers with apprehending a 40-year-old man at Newbury Street Inn (formerly Mario’s Motor Inn) on Route 1 at 7:43 p.m. The man was wanted as a rape suspect in Woburn and arrested by state police. He was transported to the Woburn Police Department.
Edward J. Cloutman Jr., 53, of 69 Winona St., Peabody, was arrested after a motor vehicle stop on Aderene Road at 8:46 p.m. He was charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding.
A caller reported there was a man in black pants and a black shirt walking down the street in the area of Main Street and Littles Lane at 11:03 a.m. She said he was screaming and holding a bat and had either a weapon or a bat in his backpack. Police checked the area but didn’t find anyone.
A caller reported there was a brush fire on Foster Street near the railroad tracks at 11:35 a.m.
Police received a report of a person under the influence of narcotics on River Street near the River House Shelter at 9:45 p.m. An officer said the person refused transport to a hospital and was in possession of heroin. A court summons will be issued.
Police responded at 11:19 a.m. to a report of a past break-in at a Rantoul Street address in the 200 block. Copper pipe was stolen.
