BevCam programs win six awards

---- — BEVERLY — BevCam and its producers recently won six awards at the 2013 Alliance for Community Media-Northeast Region Hometown Video Contest.

Beverly High School students took the top two spots in the public service announcement nonprofessional category. Mikayla Townsend won for “Rommel Eco-Friendly,” while Mackenzie Swensen took second place for “Teen Depression.”

The BHS Remix Class took first place in the educational program nonprofessional category for “The Assignment.” Muriel Zaginailoff placed second for her program, “Focus on Education.”

Other awards went to John Maihos for “Kiwanis Conversations” (second place, talk show nonprofessional category) and Mark Layman for “BHS Gymnastics 2012 MIAA State Championships (third place, sports programming nonprofessional).

BevCam, the city’s public access cable television company, airs programming on channels 8 and 22.
