Man finds, turns in ring in egg carton

SWAMPSCOTT — Police say a woman has been reunited with her engagement ring after she apparently lost it while shopping for eggs at Stop & Shop on Paradise Road.

A man contacted the department Tuesday afternoon to report that he’d found the ring in an egg carton at the store earlier in the day, according to the incident log. He had turned it in at the store’s service desk but later “thought better of that” and decided to inform police.

An officer retrieved the ring from the store and brought it back to the station.

The woman came by later to report that she had lost it.

“The ring was returned to a very happy individual,” police wrote.
