---- — BEVERLY — The investigation into last week’s police cruiser crash on Essex Street is still ongoing, according to Beverly police.

Department spokesman officer Michael Boccuzzi said yesterday that the investigation will be completed sometime this week.

The crash took place on Oct. 29 at 8:30 p.m. when a cruiser driven by officer Kevin Coletti drove off the road on Essex Street and struck a utility pole and a parked car.

Police said Coletti, who was alone in the cruiser, was not injured. He is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, Boccuzzi said.

Acting police Chief Chris Negrotti has said it does not appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The crash is being investigated by Sgt. Russell Rollins, the department’s traffic and safety officer.
