Police: Man arrested after stealing Pats shirts

PEABODY — Police say a Danvers man was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property Monday after he stole a stack of Patriots shirts from Sears at the Northshore Mall.

Gregory Hardin, 51, of 18 MacArthur Blvd., Danvers, was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property over $250.

On Monday night, police responded to a 9:15 p.m. report that an intoxicated man with a scruffy beard, sunglasses and a “large number of T-shirts” had run into Kappy’s Liquors on Andover Street “demanding they call a cab for him,” according to the incident log.

An officer determined that the man had left the store on foot carrying a stack of Patriots shirts. Hardin was later located near Sylvan Street.

Hardin was arrested without incident, and the shirts were returned to Sears about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

It was unclear how police determined Hardin had allegedly stolen the shirts from Sears, or when he allegedly did so.
