Actor Howard Platt, who was quoted in a preview that ran Thursday on the play “A Couple of Blaguards,” later clarified his remarks. Platt said he “left out important details about the play’s authorship relating to the brother Malachy.” While describing Malachy McCourt’s point of view as a character in the play, his account failed to acknowledge Malachy’s “brilliant work throughout” the script, “from the title onward,” Platt said. “The entire piece is studded with the hilarity of the richly quirky characters that inhabited the McCourt brothers’ lives as they grew up in the desperate lanes of Limerick, Ireland, and Malachy paints their comedic portraits masterfully.”
