---- — PEABODY — Police say a 15-year-old girl who got separated from her mother while trick-or-treating on Thursday evening was missing overnight for more than 12 hours.

Police received a 9:35 p.m. report from a Northend Street man who said his daughter had been last seen on Dark Lane about 7:30 p.m., according to the incident log. Lt. Arthur Yeo said the girl had somehow gotten separated from her mother, possibly after the two had a disagreement.

Radio reports at the time indicated the girl was autistic. She was described as being white, about 5 feet 6, 120 pounds, with brown hair, and had been wearing a black shirt, black pants, a black-and-red cape and a pumpkin mask when last seen.

Peabody police put out a be-on-the-lookout alert for the girl and contacted police in Salem.

The girl wasn’t found until about 7:45 a.m. yesterday, when an officer spotted her on King Street and then took her home to her family, according to the log.

Police were unable to comment on where she’d been or what she’d been doing overnight, though Yeo said she was apparently unharmed.
