“Get to Know the Festival Poets,” a program at the Peabody Institute Library, will discuss the work of poets who will be featured at the Massachusetts Poetry Festival, which will be held in Salem from May 2 to 4. Led by poet and Salem State University Professor Jennifer Jean, the third of six meetings will be held on Tuesday, April 8, at 12:30 p.m. at the Main Library at 82 Main St. in Peabody. The poets discussed will be Carol Ann Duffy, April 8; Li-Young Li, April 15; Susan Rich, April 22; and Cornelius Eady, April 29. In partnership with B&S Event Management, the North Shore Community Development Coalition will host the third annual Energize the Earth 5K/10K run/walk on Sunday, April 27, at 10 a.m., at Lynch Park, 55 Ober St., Beverly. The event attracts participants from all over New England with a focus on clean, green living. All proceeds will benefit the North Shore CDC’s sustainable affordable housing and community development work. Both the 5K/10K will start at 10 a.m. and finish at Lynch Park. Walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate in the 5K. The first 500 runners to register will receive a custom branded race shirt and bag of goodies. Online registration will remain open until noon on Saturday, April 26, and reopen at 8:30 a.m. on race day at Lynch Park.
