The Salem Arts Festival invites local artists to submit their work to be considered for participation in this year’s festival. The festival takes place June 6 to 8 along Salem’s downtown corridor and features an art show, street fair, live performances and more. This year’s theme is “spice.” The submission deadline is Friday, April 11. Applications can be found and submitted through the Salem Arts Festival website, www.salemartsfestival.com. While the festival prefers electronic applications, applicants are welcome to pick up and drop off hard copies of the form at Salem Arts Festival/Salem Main Streets, 265 Essex St., Salem, MA 01970.
North Shore Community Development Coalition and Salem State University have partnered to present a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program to provide income tax preparation to low-income taxpayers throughout the region. This year, SSU’s business school students will volunteer at North Shore CDC, 102 Lafayette St., Salem, to prepare income taxes for low-income taxpayers. Appointments are available through April 11 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Fridays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. North Shore CDC is an IRS-sponsored site.
