Tom Brady hits the beach

Star quarterback films commercial in Beverly Farms

BEVERLY — It was not just another day at the beach in Beverly yesterday.

Tom Brady came to West Beach in Beverly Farms to film a commercial for UGG boots. And he brought his dog, Lua, with him.

Don MacQuarrie, vice president of the West Beach Corp., said Brady spent about six hours in Beverly Farms shooting the commercial, which included Lua.

Rumors of Brady’s appearance attracted a small crowd, but security kept everyone well away from the Patriots’ star quarterback, MacQuarrie said.

“It was kind of an exciting thing,” he said. “It was fun to have him there.”

MacQuarrie said the same production company that filmed the Larry David HBO movie “Clear History” in Beverly last year contacted the West Beach Corp. last month about filming the Brady commercial.

Dogs normally aren’t allowed on West Beach, but an exception was made for Lua. Giselle Bundchen, Brady’s supermodel wife, was not there, MacQuarrie said.

MacQuarrie declined to say how much money the production company paid to use West Beach, a private beach overseen by the West Beach Corp. But he said the money will be donated to the Beverly Farms/Prides Crossing Association to make repairs to the Hastings House on Oak Street.
