Woman takes cat nap in laundromat

This is a corrected version of an earlier story. The correction is as follows: A story in Thursday's edition requires a correction. The incident occurred in a North Street laundromat next door to Kissable Paws, not in the pet salon. Kissable Paws does not have doors that lock on a timer or lock automatically.

SALEM — Police went to a North Street business early yesterday morning after getting a report of a possible burglary in progress.

When two officers arrived at 1:51 a.m., they found a woman locked inside a laundromat.

The woman said she had fallen asleep inside, only to discover the doors were on a timer and locked automatically.

Police were notified after someone heard the woman banging on the door’s release bar. The woman was let out with the help of the Salem Fire Department.
