A Manchester woman who either fell or jumped from a car traveling along Route 128 in Danvers on Thursday night was treated at Beverly Hospital and released hours after the incident, a hospital spokeswoman said Friday.
Massachusetts State Police on Friday could not say why or how Barbara Mattuchio, 49, of Manchester got out of the fast-moving car at 6 p.m. Thursday.
According to a state police report, Mattuchio fell or jumped from inside a car driven by Middleton resident Lisa Bain, who was heading southbound near Exit 20.
Mattuchio's landing on the payment also triggered a multi-car crash when drivers from Lynn and North Reading swerved to avoid hitting her while she lay in the road.
According to state police, a 50-year-old North Reading woman and a 16-year-old girl from Lynn suffered "non-life-threatening injuries" in that accident, and were also treated Thursday night at Beverly Hospital.
Their names and conditions were not available yesterday.
