---- — SALEM — A minor accident near the entrance to the MBTA station on Bridge Street yesterday morning resulted in the arrest of two people on a variety of charges.

Derek Labbe, 31, of 7 Home St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of drugs, operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger, passing where prohibited and child endangerment while driving under the influence. Police were unable to say last night what drug Labbe was accused of being under the influence of, and the incident log makes no remarks about the matter.

Also arrested was Katrina Cifra, 23, of 7 Home St., Beverly, on a charge of illegal possession of a class E substance (Ativan). She was also wanted on two warrants, according to the log.

A 9:14 a.m. report of a minor accident brought police to 242 Bridge St. Officers determined a blue Ford van driven by Barbara Plecinoga, 61, of Salem, had stopped in the southbound lane of Bridge Street to allow an MBTA bus to exit the station when a white Acura driven by Labbe attempted to pass her on the left, striking the rear driver’s side of the vehicle in the process.

Labbe told police he had tried to pass on the left because he believed the other vehicle was turning right into the MBTA lot, according to the log.

Lt. Mary Butler said Labbe had his 1-year-old child in the car at the time, leading to the child endangerment charge. The child was uninjured and was turned over to Labbe’s stepfather following the incident.

Cifra was a passenger in Labbe’s vehicle at the time of the accident.

The Ford sustained damage to the rear driver’s side; the Acura sustained damage to its passenger-side door. Neither vehicle was reported to have been towed.
