Police: Man shot in Peabody

PEABODY — A shooting at 197 Washington St. last night sent a man to Massachusetts General Hospital with gunshot wounds.

Little information was available at press time, but police said they have leads regarding who was responsible for the shooting.

The victim was transported by ambulance. Police declined to give his name or condition, but said he was conscious and alert when taken away.

While they have leads, police say they do not know the identity of the shooter or shooters. Officers responded to the scene following a 911 call. State police also sent a team.
