---- — BARNSTABLE (AP) — A judge has dismissed three jurors from a former Ipswich man’s murder trial because they may have been improperly influenced by outside information about the case.
Robert Upton, now of Newton, is being tried in Barnstable Superior Court in connection with the slaying in September 2009 of Aris Manoloules of Framingham in his Hyannis vacation home.
Prosecutors say Upton and Manoloules’ teenage nephew went to the home and killed him in a dispute over a multimillion-dollar family inheritance. Upton was allegedly offered $165,000 to do the killing.
The defense says there’s no evidence that Upton killed Manoloules.
The Cape Cod Times reports that Judge Gary Nickerson dismissed three jurors on Wednesday. They were replaced by three of the four alternates.
Deliberations were expected to start yesterday.
