Police: Trio orders food, attacks driver

PEABODY — Police say a Pete’s-A-Place delivery driver was taken to Salem Hospital with head injuries after he was attacked by three men on Littles Lane on Wednesday night.

Lt. Arthur Yeo said the men didn’t show weapons during the robbery but struck the driver in the head and made off with a calzone, some subs and an undisclosed amount of cash. The men were apparently the ones who had placed the delivery order.

Police received a report of the incident from a third party just after 7 p.m.

Deshawn Huston, 17, of 70 Granite St., Apt. 17A, Lynn, was arrested in connection to the incident on a charge of unarmed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Yeo said Huston left a backpack at the scene of the crime and returned to retrieve it — while police were there. Officers questioned him and then placed him under arrest.

Huston was also the subject of an outstanding warrant out of Essex County Juvenile Court for three counts of breaking and entering for a misdemeanor, according to the log.

Police are still seeking the other two suspects.
