Police: Group of 6 assaults man in car

BEVERLY — A group of men assaulted another man outside a grocery store on Elliott Street on Tuesday night, police said.

The man was sitting in his vehicle on the west side of Super Stop & Shop at 224 Elliott St. when six men pulled up in a dark blue Mitsubishi SUV and began to harass him, Officer Dave Costa said in an email.

During the ensuing confrontation, one of the males punched the victim in the face, and another smashed the driver’s side of his windshield with an unknown object, Costa said. The victim said he didn’t know the assailants.

The group fled in their vehicle after the assault.

Costa said the victim didn’t provide any further information about the assault.
