Meeting to discuss Wenham budget, Fire Department

WENHAM — Town officials are seeking input on next year’s budget and proposed changes to the Fire Department.

The Finance and Advisory Committee will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. to present on the budget for fiscal year 2014. There will also be a presentation on a study that calls for hiring another full-time firefighter and making the fire chief full time.

The meeting will take place in the selectmen’s meeting room at Town Hall, 138 Main St.

“This is an important meeting for Wenham residents to provide input and to ask questions regarding the major budget drivers in the preliminary fiscal year 2014 budget,” said Catherine Harrison, chairwoman of the Finance and Advisory Committee, in a statement.

The final report of the fire study group was presented to selectmen earlier this month and will be offered again at this meeting. The proposed changes would cost the town about $113,000, bringing the department’s budget total to $614,000.

Light refreshments will also be served at the meeting.
