A 10:05 p.m. report of a man yelling in the area of Harbor and Congress streets resulted in the arrest of Edward McCusker, 30, of 233 Lafayette St., Salem, on a charge of disturbing the peace.

Police responded to 257 Washington St. after a 1:15 a.m. report of a woman “crying in the street” and determined that the woman’s purse had been grabbed and stolen by an unknown man, whom they were subsequently unable to locate.
Police responded to a 12:26 p.m. report of an accident at Lafayette and Leavitt streets and arrested Larry Brison, 54, of 11 Grant St., Lynn, on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger and a marked lanes violation. An officer said Brison crashed into a parked car, propelling it into another vehicle. There were no reported injuries.
A person will be summonsed on a charge of malicious destruction of personal property under $250 after police responded to a 1:43 p.m. report that somebody at 53 Barstow St. had been assaulted by a neighbor with a shovel.
A woman was transported to Salem Hospital with facial lacerations and back pain after her vehicle struck a telephone pole near the Kernwood Country Club, 1 Kernwood St., around 7:40 p.m. A firefighter said the woman was wearing a seat belt and that both air bags had deployed during the accident. There was no entrapment.
A GPS was stolen from a vehicle parked at the Knights Inn, 225 Newbury St., according to a 7:11 p.m. report.
Two gunshots were reported at 6 Paulette Drive at 3:39 p.m. An officer was unable to locate anything suspicious in the area.
