Five hypodermic needles were secured on a Dodge Street sidewalk at 9:53 p.m.
A woman told police she lost $100 on Park Street. Officer John McCarthy went over and found it at 10:11 p.m.

Gustavo A. Pimentel, 60, of 1 Norton Terrace, Salem, was arrested at Highland and Ravenna avenues at 2:48 a.m. on charges of drunken driving and driving too close. The arrest followed a two-car accident where one vehicle was struck from the rear. Patrolmen John Burke, Rafael Gonzalez, Deni Gaito and Gilbert Priddy participated in the arrest.
Loud music on Washington Street at 2:49 p.m. first got turned down and then turned back up before police could even leave the scene. At one point, the woman playing the music "exited the room yelling" at police. She was warned that she was risking a charge of disturbing the peace.
A man complained to police at 4:09 p.m. that a youth keeps asking him to buy alcohol on his behalf. The man refuses. The man "was advised that he did the right thing," according to the log. He was urged to stay clear of the fellow.
Another vehicle parked at the Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA was reported broken into at 4:14 p.m. A purse containing $80 and various cards were stolen
A resident turned in a replica M16 BB gun with a scope and two magazines at 5:47 p.m. The gun was found discarded on Summer Street.
A mother on Essex Street had to be rescued at 6:25 p.m. after getting locked in the bedroom by her 2-year-old daughter.
A complaint was lodged at 6:43 p.m. against a woman who refused to let her daughter back in the apartment — and refused to respond to police — because the daughter did not clean the kitchen before she went out. The daughter's father picked her up at the police station.
Sometime overnight, according to a report by a Francis Road man at 6:53 p.m., someone keyed his car.
A spider web-like crack in a windshield on Loring Avenue at 9 p.m. did not appear when the vehicle was rear-ended. It came about instead as the driver of the car behind, a Salem man, angrily punched the windshield several times. That driver subsequently drove off without exchanging papers, but the driver with the cracked windshield got his plate number and police soon caught up to him. Police will summons him for damaging the windshield. The first driver, meanwhile, told police he stopped abruptly for a small animal crossing the road.
Police got a 13-year-old girl to apologize to her mother after they were called concerning the child's willful behavior. "She was advised to listen to her mother and show her respect," according to the police report at 9:29 p.m. The girl "stated that she will be more respectful towards her mother and family."
A woman wandering Valley Road barefoot in pajamas was only looking for a dog at 11:23 p.m.

An officer showed an ability to multitask after being called over a dog incessantly barking and left out in the rain on Oak Street. Contacted by phone, the owner agreed to get the dog to shelter. Meanwhile, the officer discovered that the dog's owner had an unregistered car, and it was towed away at 6:14 a.m.
Two vehicles parked in a driveway on Raymond Avenue were reported broken into and robbed at 7 a.m. Some documents and $100 were missing.
Police examined at 8:03 a.m. evidence that someone had broken into the YMCA on Essex Street over the weekend. Nothing was taken.
A woman on Wisteria Street reported at 8:20 a.m. that a man in his 20s, with a neck tattoo and accompanied by a thin woman with a small child, has twice knocked on her door raising money, first for cancer and then feeding the hungry. She told police she suspected a scam. They advised her to call them if the "fundraisers" reappear.
Samantha Lynn Defreitas, 24, of 73 Boston St., Salem, was arrested at the CVS on Essex Street at 2:25 p.m. by Patrolmen Dana Mazola and Erik Manninen after she was allegedly spotted shoving a package of Nutter Butter cookies and a cordless optical mouse down the front of her pants and then walking out of the store without paying. She was also wanted for outstanding warrants.

Luis Mauricio, 17, of 43 Park St., Lynn, was arrested on Lowell Street at 5:42 p.m. by Officer Michael Nary on a charge of driving without a license and failing to yield. A woman will be summonsed for allegedly allowing him to drive.
A Salem man will be summonsed for driving with a suspended license after a stop on Andover Street at 6:34 p.m.
A vehicle went into a guardrail on Lynn Street at 7:58 p.m., sending a juvenile to North Shore Children's Hospital.
A guest at the Marriott Hotel told police at 11:07 p.m. that a $4,000 ring was stolen from her room.

A West Shore Drive resident complained at 8:17 a.m. that his neighbor's yard sale had "completely" blocked access to his own driveway.
Broken and stolen outdoor lights on Auburndale Road appear to be the work of kids, according to the police log at 9:45 a.m.
Police took a complaint at 1:12 p.m. that a Smith Street store was selling tobacco products to kids.
A Green Street woman called police at 7:12 because she "wanted help removing boyfriend." She got it.
Someone called police about a wheelchair heading downtown "with no lights on" at 10:04 p.m. Officers searched, responding that the "only (person) matching description has been at Maddie's for a couple hours."

Onorio Lopez, 27, of 18 Etna Place, Lynn, was arrested at 4:55 p.m. on Essex Street by Officer Shane Kavanaugh and charged with driving with a suspended license, using a false name and having an outstanding warrant.
