Salem woman faces drug charges

SALEM — A woman was arrested on several drug charges at Mack Park yesterday.

Jennifer Deinstadt, 34, of 32 School St., Salem, was charged with two counts of illegal possession of a Class B substance, illegal possession of a Class C substance, illegal possession of a Class E substance and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

According to the incident log, officers in the Special Response Unit were on patrol in the area of Tremont Street around 2 p.m. when they observed two people in a parked, running BMW. They ran the vehicle through a database and determined that Deinstadt, the owner, had a suspended license.

Police made contact with Deinstadt, confirmed that her license had been suspended and then arrested her. A subsequent search of the vehicle produced five alprazolam pills, two Ritalin pills, one Klonopin pill and three amphetamine pills, police wrote.

Deinstadt could not produce a prescription for the medication, according to the log.

The vehicle was towed.
