North Shore in Fall: What to do

Big Woods Hike, noon to 1:30 p.m., Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield. Sanctuary naturalists will lead small groups every 15 minutes for a walk to the “Big Woods” on Averill’s Island. Hear stories of the original settlers, learn about the cultural history of the sanctuary and look for animal signs. Outside program lasts about two hours. Dress warmly and comfortably. Warm up by the wood stove upon return. Hot drinks, homemade soups and desserts available for purchase. Rain or shine. Open to adults and families with children ages 5 and older. A Community of Song, 3 p.m., A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel, Gordon College, 255 Grapevine Road, Wenham. The Gordon Children’s Choir, Women’s Choir and Men’s Choir join together to present an interactive concert focused on the communal aspect of singing and music-making. Free admission. www.gordon.edu.

Robin O’Herin Concert, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Peabody Institute Library, Sutton Room, Peabody. Robin O’Herin is a touring blues and gospel musician specializing in historically rich, often interactive concerts that include original and traditional American music. Award-winning documentary screening, 4 p.m., Rose Performance Hall, Endicott College, 376 Hale St., Beverly. “Inocente,” an Academy Award-winning documentary by Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine, is a coming-of-age feature documentary about a young artist’s fierce determination to never surrender to the bleakness of her surroundings.
