HAMILTON — A late-season effort to get in some water-skiing on Chebacco Lake turned grim for a Hamilton man after the line pulling him wrapped around his left hand, amputating a part of it on Friday afternoon.
James Bishop, 47, was rushed to Gordon-Conwell Seminary, where he was MedFlighted to a Boston hospital. According to police, the severed extremity — consisting of about three-fourths of his hand — was recovered and went to Boston with him.
Police report that the skiing party had Bishop and the hand on the dock when they arrived. They credit Lyons Ambulance with giving medical aid and transporting him to an area where the helicopter could land. Also tending to him was the Hamilton Fire Department.
Police Sgt. Stephen Trepanier and Officer Mike Wetson also responded.
