Tires and rims were reported stolen from a vehicle on West Street at 6:10 p.m.


Goldberg Properties reported a past copper theft at 18 Rantoul St. at 8:46 a.m.



Samantha Simpson, 18, 21 Lee St., Salem, was arrested on two counts of assault and battery on a person over 60 years old/disabled or with injury at 108 High St., according to a 10:09 p.m. log item. The log item indicated that a “male has a gun.”

A stolen motor vehicle was reported at Motel 6, 65 Newbury St., at 10:58 p.m.


Michelle Chasse, 45, 14 Cleveland St., Salem, was arrested at Ocean State Job Lot, 139 Endicott St., on charges of shoplifting by asportation, according to a 12:37 p.m. log item



Police were called to 59 Fairview Ave. on a report of an underage drinking party at 8:32 p.m. There were between 40 and 50 kids between the ages of 15 and 16 at the party, according to the police log. A 49-year-old woman and a 50-year-old are expected to be summonsed on charges of providing liquor to persons under 21.


A detective reported confiscating a class D controlled substance from AdPro, 15 Spring St., at 8:45 p.m. It was marked for destruction, according to the police log.


A burglary of jewelry was reported at 84 Walnut St. at 9:58 a.m. A fire was there the previous night, and the home was broken into sometime overnight, police said.

Police were called to Lena’s Pizza & Subs, 200 Washington St., at 10:06 a.m. on a report of BB gun holes in the front door. And officers “confirm BB gun holes and will document,” according to the log.

A caller reported to police at 12:26 p.m. that the tires were slashed on a motor vehicle at 12 Sprague St.



Police were called to 8 Hardy St. at 4:28 p.m. for a woman yelling. Police said the woman stated “she is a witch and was putting a spell on a party.” Police advised her “to stop yelling and continue with her spell,” according to the log item.
