Two arrested on drug charges

BEVERLY — Two Boston residents were arrested on Friday evening for attempting to deal cocaine, police said.

Police received information from a “confidential informant” around 11 p.m. that they could purchase cocaine from an individual, Detective Dana Nicholson said yesterday.

Weekenson J. Louis, 30, of Hyde Park and Denise R. Barton, 31, of Dorchester were both arrested on charges of distributing a class B drug and conspiracy to violate drug laws on Elliott Street after attempting to sell crack cocaine to the confidential informant, Nicholson said.

Nicholson said police recovered 3.5 grams of crack cocaine from their persons, numerous cellphones and more than $800 in cash.

The two were arraigned yesterday.

Along with Nicholson, Detective Sgt. David Faustino, Sgt. Lawrence VanLiere and officers Eric Abrahamson and Michael Flynn assisted with the arrests.
