Police: Man steals cousin's ID, airline ticket during dispute

SALEM — Police say a man was arrested Tuesday night after he stole his cousin’s identification and airline ticket during a dispute about possibly stolen gold necklaces.

Angel Omar Geronimo, 21, of 92 Congress St., Salem, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery, unarmed robbery and receiving stolen property over $250.

Multiple officers were dispatched to 105 Congress St. after an 11:46 p.m. report of a possible domestic dispute. After arriving, they spoke to a woman who said she had just been assaulted by Geronimo, her cousin, according to the incident log.

Lt. Mary Butler said Geronimo had been attempting to sell his cousin necklaces that she knew “weren’t his to sell,” so she refused to give them back.

A shoving match ensued, during which Geronimo grabbed the woman’s passport and ticket to the Dominican Republic for the next day, she said.

Both items were eventually returned to the woman.

Geronimo was arrested without incident.
