Woman faces prostitution charge

SALEM — Police say a Lafayette Street woman was arrested last night after an undercover detective responded to her advertisement for sexual services on Backpage.com.

Joanna Lahey, 39, of 104 Lafayette St., Apt. 31, was arrested on a charge of sexual conduct for a fee, said Detective Sgt. Kristian Hanson.

After police came across the advertisement on the website, Detective Thomas Brennan contacted Lahey, Hanson said.

Brennan arranged to meet Lahey at her apartment, at which point they negotiated a price of $150 for “anything he wanted sexually,” Hanson said. Lahey was then arrested.

Assisting with the case were Detective Lt. Stephen Bona and Detectives Dennis Gaudet and Kevin St. Pierre.
