Federal suspect arrested by SWAT team in Peabody

PEABODY — A heavily armed SWAT team converged on a Lynn Street address at 6 a.m. today to take a man into custody.

Federal authorities are withholding details, including the name of the suspect and the charge, according to Peabody police Capt. Dennis Bonaiuto. Participating in the South Peabody arrest were detectives and officers of the Peabody Police Department, members of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration's tactical diversion squad and a SWAT team from NEMLEC, the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.

The suspect was wanted on a federal warrant, according to Bonaiuto.
