UPDATE: Firefighter injured at scene of 3-alarm fire in Danvers

DANVERS — A Beverly firefighter has been injured at the scene of a three-alarm fire at 8 Sylvan St. in Danvers.

The firefighter was conscious when he was placed into an ambulance just before 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to reporters at the scene.

The house fire was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. Firefighters reported flames showing as they arrived on scene, according to scanner reports.

At one point, firefighters were evacuated from the building.

The Victorian two-family home located across from Danvers Town Hall was built in the 1870s, according to a listing on

A large crowd was watching from the Town Hall lawn as firefighters continued to battle the blaze.
