Police received a 6:19 p.m. report that teens were causing a disturbance in the young adult room of the library, but an officer didn’t find any disturbance upon responding.

An 18-year-old woman was transported to Salem Hospital with a possible neck injury after her vehicle struck a tree on Forest Street, according to a 7:46 p.m. report. No citations were issued, and the vehicle was towed.


A caller reported at 7:41 a.m. that a pothole at Route 114 west and Route 128 south had caused her a flat tire.

Police received an 11:14 a.m. report that a ring was stuck on a 69-year-old man’s finger at 7 Silverleaf Way. An officer later said the ring had been cut off the man’s finger.

A Berry Street man reported at 12:29 p.m. that a man in his early 20s with a shaved head had been walking in his driveway, sitting on his steps and lying on his lawn. An officer responded but could not locate the man.

An intoxicated man on Foster Street was having “difficulty operating a bicycle,” according to a 1:27 p.m. report. Police spoke to the man, who “was on his bike and did not want our services.”



A Livingstone Avenue caller reported a person swimming “or in distress” at 3:31 p.m. Police determined that the unidentified person “had returned to shore and walked away,” and that people at the park said “a resident of area swims the beach waters at all times of year.”



A 5:02 p.m. report of an undesirable female at 59 Boston St. resulted in the arrest of Kathryn Flaherty, 51, of 43 Boston St., Salem, on a charge of trespassing.

An officer arrested a woman after allegedly seeing her drinking from a bottle of pumpkin-flavored beer in the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts at 152 Washington St. at 7:29 p.m. Melissa Cote, 25, of 14 Gardner St., Salem, was charged with drinking in public.
