A woman reported that she being was followed by a man in a vehicle at 162 Washington St. at 1:29 p.m. An officer determined that the man was a delivery driver making deliveries in the area.
A 1:41 p.m. report of shoplifting brought police to Sears at the Northshore Mall, where they arrested Jane O’Connor, 44, of 117 Lafayette St., Salem, on two charges of shoplifting.
A small basement fire at 1 Sabino Farm Road was reported at 3:41 p.m. and extinguished by the Fire Department shortly thereafter.

A 7:01 a.m. report that a woman’s boyfriend “is refusing to give her child back” brought police to 6 Fountain St., where they arrested Anthony Fontina, 26, of 6 Fountain St., Peabody, on a charge of domestic assault and battery and a warrant.
Police responded to a 12:49 p.m. report of shoplifting at J.C. Penney at the Northshore Mall and arrested Chandra Garcia, 42, of 1 Lucier St., Nashua, N.H.
At 2:09 a.m., police arrested Jon Adamo, 24, of 28 Poplar St., Danvers, on charges of drunken driving, second offense, and speeding.
A motorist was hospitalized with unspecified injuries after apparently driving into a building at Twin Oaks Nursing Home, according to a 2:19 a.m. report. A police officer said the damage to the building was minimal and that the driver had fallen asleep.
Local firefighters extinguished a boat fire in Marblehead Harbor around 2 p.m., with help from Beverly’s Marine 1 fire boat, which was operated by the crew from Engine 5. The fire is under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
