Salem High singers headed to nationals

SALEM — A cappella singing group WitchPitch? is headed back to the national high school championships next month.

The 18-member group from Salem High School won the New England competition earlier this month in Bristol, Conn., for the third year in a row and heads to New York City on April 19 to face off against nine high schools from across the country.

WitchPitch? has appeared in the national finals the past few years.

At the regionals, the high school team, directed by Alex Grover, won two special awards, including outstanding arrangement by member Derek Dupuis.

The group will hold a fundraiser concert Thursday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Appearing with WitchPitch? will be the professional a cappella group Redline.

WitchPitch? members include Alesio Kanani, Austin Sholds, Phillip Lutts, Guthrie Scrimgeour, Derek Dupuis, Nathaniel Oscar, Kyle Doherty, Carter Fitzgerald, Meryl Schultz, Kimberly Barzola, Lishbeht Ramos, Jeanette Abbene, Samantha Dupuis, Xhulia Kanani, Catherine Majeski, Sara Hammond, Vinnesa Sisneros and Lydia Grasberger.
